California pilot project reduced Flying J’s electric energy consumption by 8.78%

MicroPlanet announced today that Flying J Inc. placed an order to install MicroPlanet’s commercial 3-Phase voltage management systems in its travel plazas and fuel stops located in North America, to save energy and reduce expenses. The first three systems will be installed in early 2009, followed by an additional seven locations when the testing and training procedures are accepted by Flying J. The order is valued at about USD $300,000.

Flying J conducted a pilot program over a six month period to test the effectiveness of MicroPlanet’s voltage management products at one of its facilities in California. The results of the pilot indicated the MicroPlanet voltage management technology will reduce kWh consumption at their facilities by an average of 8.78%.

The results of these pilots are demonstrating that MicroPlanet’s voltage management technology can reduce electric energy consumption in commercial environments from 5% to 12%, without requiring customers to make any other changes in usage behavior or equipment.
